Junior - Weekly Email

Dear All
Welcome to the start of another school year. We hope that everyone has settled into their new classes this week.  These first two weeks of the academic year are our Learning to Learn weeks. These give everyone a chance to gradually settle into their new classes before more timetabled lessons begin. Expectations of behaviour will be explained as well as focusing on how we learn best and identifying what sometimes stops us from learning. New starters will find out which houses they are in next week and House Captains will be chosen from the Year 6 children.
Zebra Crossing - there is still a vacancy for a school Crossing Patrol person for the crossing on the Deanway. A flyer with further details is attached but please be aware that this crossing will not be manned until further notice.
Start of the school day - please note that children are only supervised by school staff from 08:45. Parents/ Carers are responsible for any children who are on the school premises before this time (unless they are attending a club or taking part in a before school activity).

The first school bell of the day rings at 08:45. Pupils are expected to make their way to their classrooms when this bell rings to put away bags and coats, and then read or work quietly under teacher supervision until the second bell at 08:55. It is important that all children are in class by the second bell, when registration takes place. If children arrive after registration has finished it is important that they come to the School Office to register. School lunch orders are taken during morning registration.

At the end of the school day children are dismissed from class and they can be collected from a point of your choosing. Please make sure that both you and your child are aware of the pick up point planned each day. If children cannot find the person that they are meant to be meeting please remind them that they should come back to school and go to the School Office where staff will assist them.
Library -  we would love to be able to regularly open the school library at lunchtimes.  if you are able to help by opening the school library once a week or once a fortnight or even just occasionally then we would be very grateful. Full training will be given. Please contact Miss Clowes at the school office if you are interested in helping. The school library will be open during lunch breaks hopefully starting on Monday 18th September.
An explanation of our Communications Procedures is attached as is a summary of Medical Information for Parents.
Guitar lessons - Amersham Music Centre are processing requests for lessons. Once they have a better idea of numbers of children signed up they will let us know who our new guitar teacher will be and which day they will come into school. This will hopefully be sorted in the next couple of weeks. Application forms for all of our music lessons are on the website here.
PE lessons will be held next week on the following days and children will need to have their PE kit in school for these days.

  • Year 6 - Tuesday afternoon
  • Year 5 - Wednesday afternoon
  • Year 4 - Thursday afternoon
