Junior - Weekly Email 13/07/2018

Dear All
Thank you to our violin players and our piano players for providing two assemblies in school this week. It was lovely to hear the children play with such confidence. Thank you to all of the children who shared their hobbies with us today. It has been lovely to see everyones interest and enthusiasm during the morning.
Midday Supervisor and Kitchen Assistant roles: We are looking to recruit for both these positions from September. If you or anyone you know may be interested in these positions then please email either School Office.
Weather Forecast - the forecast is for the warm sunny weather to continue next week - please continue to ensure that your child has fresh water and a suitable hat and has suncream applied daily. Summer uniform rules continue - ie no ties or jumpers.
Library - the school library will not be opening this term. Please can any library books be returned via the red library drop box outside the school office.
School Meals and ParentPay - please can you ensure that all outstanding balances for school meals are cleared by the end of the school term. This is especially important if your child is leaving the school at the end of this term. Many thanks.
Accident Free newsletter - see attached the latest newsletter with Travel Plan and road safety information for our school sites,
JRSO banner competition - the Junior Road Safety Officers have set some homework this week for children to make a safety banner - a copy of the instructions is attached.
Doug the Pug - At the end of this term Doug our reading as therapy dog is going to semi-retire. Doug and Cate have been working with our school for the past 7 years. Doug is now 9 years old (over 60 in human years) so he needs to take a step back from some of his regular commitments. He and Cate will continue with some of their work including visiting the elderly and a hospice where the visits are more flexible and a lot shorter than the sessions Doug does at school.

Doug and Cate have supported so many children with their reading and given them all a boost of loving tender care in their time with us and we will really miss their regular Tuesday visits. We are pleased to say that Doug will visit from time to time and meet with the children who read with him each term. He will also come along to different school events across the year so that we maintain our contact and continue to have a wonderful School Dog.
This Tuesday, 17th July, we shall be holding a charity day to raise money for the Pets as Therapy Charity as one way of thanking both Doug and Cate for their support and commitment to our school. On this day we will also be holding a special assembly to thank you Doug and Cate. If your child would like to take part we are asking for a suggested donation of £1 and children may wear a yellow top or t-shirt with the rest of their normal uniform or wear normal uniform with a yellow accessory item such as a badge or socks or hairband/headband or hat. Yellow is the colour of Doug's Pets As Therapy uniform and is the colour of friendship. Yellow is also said to represent sunshine, hope, positivity and happiness. We look forward to seeing what the children wear on the day.

Lost property - we have a large heap of lost property in the room just off the Main Hall. Any items still in the lost property box at the end of term will be disposed off - either to charity shops, spare uniform or bin as appropriate. If you are missing any items please do check
Thank you tea/coffee - we would like to invite all of our parent helpers, PTA committee members and governors to join us for a thank you tea/coffee at the infant school site on Thursday 19th July from 9am to 09:30am. Parents helpers are welcome to continue to come into help at school this week.
Medicines - any pupil medicines held in school will be sent home via children at the end of term (Tuesday 24th July). Please advice the school office by the end of Monday if you would prefer that an adult collects these from the office at the end of  the day on Tuesday.
