Junior School this week

Dear all

We hope that everyone enjoyed the summer break and are all ready for the start of the new school year on Thursday.

The first two weeks of term are our Learn to Learn weeks during which we all have a chance to settle into school routines.

School meals - menus are now on the School Meals page of the website here - we are still waiting for some of the allergen information to be provided.

School clubs - details of before and after school clubs are on the Clubs page of the school website here.

Music lessons will start next week - we are still confirming lesson slots but we hope to give details in the Friday email to parents.

Uniform - we are aware that there have been delays with deliveries from School Trends this week. If your child does not have school jumper/cardigan and if the weather becomes cooler they are welcome to wear plain green or black jumpers/cardigans this week. We do have a supply of size 26" jumpers in school or we have a limited stock of second hand jumpers. These can be purchased from the school office between 2pm and 4pm on Inset Day (Wednesday 5th September).

Year 5 -  Children in Year 5 will be having Ukulele lessons in school this year with Mr Holmes. There are school ukuleles that the children can use in school for these music lessons but it may be helpful for children to have a ukulele of their own to practice on at home.  Mr Holmes suggests the Makala Dolphin model of ukulele as these have geared machine heads that hold their tuning better than some of the cheaper options available that just have a straight peg to hold the strings. The following website link is only to give you an idea of this model - there are many other suppliers of this model or ukulele -  If your child is entitled to Pupil Premium and you would like assistance with purchasing a ukulele please contact your child's class teacher, Mrs English or Mrs Peal.

Year 6 Careers Day - Year 6 are holding a Careers Day on Friday 14th September 2018. As part of Learn to Learn fortnight, the Year 6 children will experience applying for the position of House and Vice Captains by writing a letter of application, presenting to their houses and by being interviewed by a teacher. This will all be completed in school time. As part of this learning, we would like to invite any parents or relatives in to talk about their career. If you would like to come in and are available on Friday 14th September, please contact the School Office by replying to this email and we will then contact you to confirm. It would be fantastic if you could make your presentation as interactive as possible!  If you have any questions or need any resources/equipment, please feel free to contact us via the School Office.

Weekly email - this is sent out to parents and guardians of our current children at the end of the day on Friday . Please let us know if you wish to be removed from our whole school mailing list or if we have not included a parent/carer who would like to be added.

School App - gives you quick access to school calendar and weekly emails plus we are starting to send out quick notices via the App  - download from your App Store or see our website link here
