Junior - Parental Reading Guidance

Dear Parent / Carer

We are very grateful for the time you spend reading at home with your child. When children are regularly heard reading, their decoding, fluency and comprehension skills can improve greatly.

In Key Stage Two, there is a larger focus on the comprehension of the text that is being read, these skills are taught in Guided Reading and Literacy sessions.

In order to support your child with these skills, attached is a document with some guidance on the reading skills, along with questions you can use when reading with your child at home.

Please get in touch if you would like a hard copy of this or if you have any further questions about how to support your child with their reading.

Kind Regards

Miss Warner
