Infant - Weekly reminder (w/c 17th September)

Dear Parent/Carer,
Parent Information Evenings: These will be held on Tuesday in the classrooms at the following times:
  • Reception 5.30pm
  • Year 1 - 6.15pm
  • Year 2 - 7.00pm
Please come along to discover all your children will be learning in the year ahead!
Class Parent Communications and ClassList: Regular communication between parents is important in helping us build a supportive and welcoming school community.  Recent data protection changes mean parents now rely on a variety of informal channels to contact each other, ranging from ad-hoc email lists to social media groups on Facebook and WhatsApp. These can work well but raise important concerns over inclusiveness, security and safeguarding - particularly when used to distribute personal data, and exchange information and images about children.

The school, working closely with a number of volunteers over the summer, has looked carefully at what might serve parent needs best in this area.  This year we are introducing a new “built for purpose” app called Classlist. This enables parents to find and contact each other securely, whilst giving each parent complete control over what data is shared. Classlist, which is UK based, holds appropriate security and GDPR certifications and recently won top prize at BETT, the world’s largest education technology event.

Our parent community is of course much more than an online address book. Using Classlist you can set up events; form special interest groups; discuss arrangements for parties or liftshares and volunteer. There is even scope for the PTA to raise money through working with local sponsors who support the site, which is completely free to the school and to parents.

It takes a couple of minutes to get started - first download the Classlist app on iOS or Android; select Chalfont St Giles Village School and choose what data to share with your fellow parents.

We are launching the Classlist app today. All parents will receive and email inviting them to join later today. I would encourage you to sign up as soon as possible as this will be the replacement communication tool for your Class Parent communication.

This will replace ALL other methods of Class Parent communication including email and WhatsApp groups.

Accident-Free In CSG:
Reminder from Gardens Association Hall
Well done to those parking and striding from outside the Safety Zone. It's great to see people using the 'crossing corner' on School Lane and reminding children not to walk in the middle of the road
If you come to school by taxi, please ask the taxi to AVOID School Lane. We also ask cars NOT to stop to let our children in the middle of the road on School Lane. Mrs Peal will be on parking patrol over the coming weeks and will be asking those driving up School Lane if they are exempt from the Parking Promise, so those on patrol can be briefed accordingly.
A reminder that the elderly and disabled users of Gardens Association Hall need hall access on Tuesdays 8am-2pm and Fridays 11am-2pm, so please leave parking free in front of the hall.
This week the vehicles below were parked or stopped inconsiderately on School Lane or on the double yellow lines on Silver Hill. Please find safe, alternative parking away from the safety zone.
