Reception Height and Weight Screening: This is taking place on Friday 18th January as per the emails sent out before Christmas, if you do not want your child's height/weight and/or vision recorded please opt out by emailing the school nursing team on firstname.lastname@example.org
Footsteps Training: Footsteps is a practical pedestrian training scheme for young children, which develops awareness of roads and helps them live safely with traffic. Children are taken into the local area with a trained tutor to observe the traffic and discuss road safety. If you are interested in supporting our children with this, please contact the school office.
Governor Survey: Via the Governor survey, during parents evening, some parents have asked for further clarity about how much time should be spent on homework. We are currently reviewing our homework policy and as part of this will consider suggested timings for each part of the homework ie maths, spelling etc. As soon as this policy has been reviewed and ratified by the Governors we will share it with you.
Nursery Parents: Next week please could you bring in a baby photo of your child to tie in with our current nursery topic. These will be used for display and will be returned to you by the end of term.
Class Trees: On Friday the 18th January we will be decorating our class trees and discussing new beginnings and New Year's resolutions. If you would like to come along and help decorate the trees please let the office know. It will begin at 2:30.
Trees: The school has received some trees to plant. We would like to plant them around the Shakman field as there is very little shade there in the summer months.
If you have half an hour to spare on a Friday, please let the office know and we will supply the tools and some eco-warriors to help. Thank you.
Deanway Pavement Work: We have been advised by BCC that footpath maintenance works will be taking place on the Deanway, this will involve traffic lights and will operate between 09:30 and 15:30 weekdays during the 5 weeks that the work will take. There is currently no start date other than mid-January depending on the weather so please look out for the advance warning signs.
Change of Menu: On Thursday 17th January the menu choice is:
Pork Sausage in a roll
Vegetarian Sausage in a roll
Chocolate Cake / Fresh Fruit / Fruit Yogurts.
Please find attached the allergen chart for that day.
Accident-Free in CSG:
Sadly there has been more inconsiderate parking since term started, with parents/carers blocking the safe crossing corner and stopping in the keep clear.
Many thanks in advance to Amethyst parents for covering patrol for the next fortnight. Fifteen minutes of your time helps keep our pupils safe and avoid the alarming near-misses we've had in the past.
Mrs Peal will be doing spot checks and is keen to speak to anyone parking or stopping inconsiderately or dangerously. This week it was the following vehicles on School Lane and the double yellow lines on Silver Hill:
Grey Renault ****
Blue BMW ****
White Mercedes ****
Black VW ****
