Infant - Weekly email - Friday 6th November

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been lovely to welcome your children back into school after the half term break.

We hope you had a good holiday with chances to see family, spend time together, rest and have fun. This half term we are looking forward to the exciting learning and activities we have planned for the children.

There are lots of lovely things to look forward to during these strange and difficult times. This includes Roman Day, Egyptian day, Day, Victorian Day and Evacuee Day for specific year groups and lots of festive fun in the build up to the Christmas break.

Mayan day

Year 5 held their annual Mayan Day today where they discovered so much about the Mexican way of life, their food and culture. The day was really successful and enjoyed by all. Huge thanks to the staff team for organising and running this fascinating day to support your children’s learning. These well planned days help your children to have many different experiences which will help them to develop strong memories and deeper understanding of the subjects covered. We would like to thank the Year 5 parents for their very generous donations.

Remembrance Day

Year 2 are finding out about Remembrance Day and the significance of the poppy as a symbol. On the 11th of November the Year group will visit the war memorial in the village and lay a wreath on behalf of the whole school. This will be done safely and we will remain in our bubble whilst visiting the village centre.

Infant School

Thank you to those parking in Blizzards Yard car park and around the village, rather than driving up School Lane or parking on Silver Hill.

It’s disappointing that there have been a lot of people parking on Silver Hill and across Crossing Corner.
Please avoid this area so that all children are safe.
The parking wardens have been contacted and will be around at the beginning or end of the day.
There will be roadworks on Monday 16th November on Deanway which may cause delays in the area.

ParentMail

Due to a number of historical issues with Parentpay the school will be moving to a new system called ParentMail. Over the next 2 weeks you will be sent an email from ParentMail, when you receive this please just follow the instructions. Once registered, if you have an Android or Apple smartphone, we would recommend you download the ParentMail App. To do this, simply search for ParentMail in your App store. We hope to use this system for ordering school meals moving forward so please do look out for the registration information.

Sponsored Walk

Thank you to all the children, teachers and families who have stomped, splashed, cycled, scooted and walked over the last 2 weeks to completely smash their class target of 100miles! The messages on Peoples Fundraising have been wonderful to see, lots of smiling support from your supporters. The fundraising page will be open for a further week to collect and final donations, if you are able. Cash donations can be given to your class parents please.  All children will be coming home with their shiny medal today which has been generously supported by Bucks Building Society and Wilson Heal Estate Agent, to whom we are very grateful.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm and support.
