Infant - Weekly Email - Friday 27th May

We have reached the end of another half term which ended in fine style. The day began with a wonderful class assembly from Ruby Class where they told us a story, sang a song about the seaside and informed us about all of their learning so far. This was followed by a joyous Jubilee celebration, welcoming everyone from the Junior School to the Shakman Field. It was lovely to be all together again as we sang, danced and had races in our houses. Look out over the weekend for some images shared on our Twitter account @CSGSchool.

Nursery Stay and Play

Nursery Stay and Play will be every Tuesday and Thursday from the 14th June between 9am and 10am.

The Stay and Play list is now up for parents to sign up for a date. Due to limitations on spaces please note that there will only be one visit date available per family.

Sports for Champions

This week we were very lucky to have Pierre Henry-Fontaine visit us at school. He has played basketball for England and he showed us lots of exercises and talked to us in a special assembly about keeping healthy and happy.  The children were very excited to meet him and loved all the activities they took part in.

Thank you to all the parents for the wonderful fund raising you did. So far we have raised a fantastic amount of £1700 across both schools.

School Lunches

Please do remember to order next term's school lunches via ParentMail by Saturday 4th June in time for the following Tuesday.

Village Events

Please see here for information about the events being held in the village over the Jubilee weekend.

This year, the Buckinghamshire Best Kept Village Competition is back! As current holders and previous winners (many times!) of the competition, we know that having the prestigious ‘Best Kept Village’ sign on the village green brings travel and tourism to our village, which in turn helps to support the shops and businesses that we value so much and love to use.

In preparation for the competition (the judging of which will take place on an unknown date in June) we are holding a “Village Clean- up Day” on Saturday 28 May between 10am and noon. If you have a couple of hours to spare, please come along and join your Parish Councillors on the village green and collect litter from within the village centre. You could also bring along some gardening hand tools and help to clear the weeds from the pavements.

If you cannot come along on Saturday, you can always do some litter picking closer to home to make sure that your street is looking it’s best.

To those people who received our “Clean and Green” litter pickers last year, thank you for your ongoing support in helping to keep Chalfont St Giles clean and green.

In June, two new paths will be created at the recreation ground, to improve accessibility. The Parish Council would like to thank a parishioner for a generous donation towards this project. Improvements will also be made to some of the existing paths that have failed and to the vehicle access to the car park. The work will begin on 30 May and will last approximately three weeks (weather dependent). We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works.
