Reception held a 'Winter Olympics' in school this week where they tried out some gymnastics and challenged themselves with balancing and climbing. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and worked very hard!
Year 1 went to Milestones Museum for the day on Wednesday. The children had a fantastic day learning all about toys from the past and comparing them with the toys of today. We were so proud to have many compliments about how the children conducted themselves, showing great behaviour and engaging brilliantly with everything on offer. Well done Year 1! Thank you to all the parents who helped with the trip.
Monday 15th November- Odd Socks Day
We are supporting the Anti Bullying Alliances Odd Sock Day again this year and we are looking forward to seeing lots of wonderful brightly coloured socks. Anti Bullying Awareness Week - more details are available on their website here https://anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/anti-bullying-week/odd-socks-day
Please note this is an awareness day only and not a fundraising event.
Christmas Lunch - Wednesday 15th December
This year's Christmas lunch has now been loaded onto ParentMail for you to select for your child for 15th December. In order for St Josephs to facilitate this across all the schools they cater for, it has been necessary for them to simplify the menu the week before on Wednesday 8th December to a non-roast meal. We have had to clear all selections for this day to amend it so please can we ask you to REORDER for the 8TH DEC. All existing orders for the 15th have been carried forward. If you are unsure, please do check your account.
Walk to School Week
Thank you to everyone who has taken part in Walk to School Week. A copy of the Green Cross Code is available here. This shows the steps you need to follow to cross the road safely.
SEN reviews are being held on Monday 15th November for infant school parents. They will be held virtually on Google Classroom. If any parents are expecting a meeting and have not received an email with an allocated time, please let the school office know.
Midday Supervisor role
We are looking to recruit midday supervisors on a full time, part time and casual basis. Being on our casual staff list means that we would like to call on you to cover lunch time staff absences or when additional staff may be required. If you or anyone you know may be interested in any of these positions please email the school office.
We are planning for the following events to go ahead to celebrate Christmas this year
Christmas Singalong - Friday 10th December 10.45 a.m.
Christmas Celebration - Monday 6th December 2.15 p.m.
Thursday 9th December 2.15 p.m.
Years 1 and 2:
Christmas Show - Monday 6th December 9.15 a.m- younger siblings are welcome to attend
Tuesday 7th December 9.15 a.m.-no siblings
Wednesday 8th December 9.15 a.m.- no siblings
Carol services at the Church:
Infant School and Nursery: 17th December at 9.15 a.m.
At this point we are planning for these events to go ahead with an audience and parents are invited to join us.
If we have local or national restrictions in place, we will record the school based shows/ assemblies and share these with parents. The church based events will be held without an audience or will be held at school.
We are so sorry that there is such uncertainty but please be reassured our main priority is to celebrate this time of year with the children and ensure they have a lovely experience.
Accident-Free in CSG
We've had a report of a very near miss this week. A blue car had parked blocking most of the road and a large white car squeezed through the gap almost touching the playground wall and completely cutting over the wide section of marked pavement. A parent was stepping around the corner holding her child's hand and was able to pull him back.
Please do not drive or park on School Lane or the Memorial Hall car park. This includes crossing corner and across the keep clear sign!
