Dear Parents and Carers,
Yet again the children have brought huge smiles to our faces as they came into school dressed as their favourite Christmas characters and wearing their Christmas gear. The staff joined in and we have had a fun-filled day!
Pride of Buckinghamshire Award
Louise Chamberlain, of All Together Community CIC, and Ellie O'Connor, one of the Chalfont St Giles Coronavirus Support Network, received a Pride of Bucks Community Hero Award on the village green on Wednesday 9th December. Mike Clare, founder and Chairman of the Clare Foundation which sponsored the award with Buckinghamshire Council, was joined by the Clare Foundation's CEO, Martin Gallagher, to give the award to Louise and Ellie. The socially distanced ceremony was attended by a small group of parish councillors, friends and family, and members of the support network.
We would like to send our congratulations to both of them and our huge thanks to these organisations who have supported the schools and our families through such a difficult time. We know the work still goes on and we are proud to be working with them.
This week the classes have all been watching a lovely video shared by Mrs Coleman who is our Eco-Schools lead. The video explores ways that everyone can follow the three R's this Christmas-Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Each class has selected a challenge and led by their Eco Warrior representative will be trying out some of the ideas. The message is a good one for all of us to follow. Here is the video - available for you all to watch at home.
As new apps and technological advances keep pushing forward, parents and caregivers can sometimes struggle to keep up.
Parental controls can offer peace of mind to those who want their family members to enjoy the wonders of apps whilst deciding on what they consider to be safe and available to their children. We know some children are accessing TikTok. The content on this app is often not age appropriate and parents should consider carefully their child's access to this. If parents want to allow children access, please can we suggest you look at the family pairing system that TikTok offer as this will allow you to add parental controls. The link for the TikTok Family Pairing document is here.
Hot School Meal Trial
Thank you so much to those who helped with our hot school meal trial day this week. We are currently reviewing our staffing and procedures to establish whether we will be able to bring back this service whilst maintaining the integrity of our 'bubbles.' We hope to have a further update for you next week.
Christmas Party Day
The children are looking forward to their Christmas parties on Thursday and can wear their party clothes to school. Please make sure they are still dressed warmly and appropriately (no jewellery or high heeled shoes).
