Infant - Weekly email (for w/c Monday 25th Feb)

Dear Parent/Carer,

Cross Site Reading: It was lovely to have years 4,5 and 6 come down to the Infant site for a half hour of reading today. All of the children really enjoyed spending time together, we hope all of the siblings who were so excited to see one another are still as fond of each other this time next week!

Arts Week: We are looking forward to our Arts Week after half term. Children will be doing observational drawings of instruments and then making their own. We also have dancers from Dr Challoner's High School and musicians from The Misbourne School coming in to perform for us.

World Book Day: Please find attached a letter regarding World Book Day on Thursday 7th March.

Chimp Management and Metacognition:  It was great to see Prof Steve Peters, author of the series of books exploring how to understand your brain, on the One Show this week.

Our school began working with Professor Peters and his team six years ago when we trained staff to use and apply his model of managing your brain and emotions. Four years ago we began our program of supporting the children at school to better understand how their brains work. This approach to learning is central to our school ethos as understanding ourselves is really important if we want to be happy and successful. If you’d like to learn more about Dr Peters’ work please watch the One Show from 13th February (available on BBC iPlayer) His interview is in the last 15 mins of the program. We are excited about his new book  ‘My Hidden Chimp’ and are looking forward to our next training day after Easter when we will be revisiting our ‘Chimp’ training and further exploring strategies to support your children.

Accident-Free in CSG:  Silver Hill warning and a resident complaint.

It is concerning to see that some parents are regularly parking on the double yellow lines on Silver Hill, or even turning into School Lane from Silver Hill against the one way system.

As a result of this we have contacted the local PCSO and the parking wardens. Parking here is illegal, jeopardises visibility for other drivers and inconveniences residents. For those of you who use your passes to park and stride from Blizzards Yard, thank you! Please be aware that the car park entrance lane is being resurfaced on Wednesday 27th February and Thursday 28th February so the car park won't be accessible.

Parking near Milton's Restaurant - we have been asked, by a local resident, to remind parents and carers not to park on the double yellow lines outside Milton's Restaurant and not to block the pavement or resident's cars parked outside the restaurant. The parking area outside Milton's restaurant is private parking.

This week, the following vehicles were parked inconsiderately on School Lane or Silver Hill:

Red Peugeot ***  Black VW **

We wish everyone a lovely half term break.
