Infant - Weekly Email

Dear Parents/Carers,

Transition week: The Year 2 children have had a great week visiting the Junior School this week and it was lovely to see the Year 3 children at the Infant site. They have grown so much in a year!

Nursery Assembly: Well done to the Nursery for a fantastic assembly on Thursday. All the children joined in so well and we could see how much they enjoyed singing all their songs and telling their audience about all the fun they have had in their nursery year.

Year 1 Ruislip Lido Trip: What a great day and the rain stayed away! Thank you to the parents who accompanied us on the trip. We hope the children slept as well as the teaching staff did that night!

Sapphire Assembly: Thank you to Sapphire Class for performing such an amazing class assembly this morning. It was a joy to see how far the children have come this year and it caused a few leaky eyes from the adults in the audience!

Class Photos: Your child will be bringing home an order form for their class photo. If you wish to return your order via the school, please can you send them in to the school office by Friday 7th July first thing.

County Induction Day: Please ensure your child arrives at school on time on Tuesday. A reminder that all Year 2 children should be visiting their Junior School Placement or be kept at home for the day if their new school has different induction arrangements.

We will not require any parent helpers in school on this day. Thank you.

Accident-Free In CSG: Competition Time!

(Deadline: Monday 3rd July)

To reinforce the fantastic efforts being made, we are planning to create our own large and permanent road safety banners for School Lane. These will be made up with road safety images drawn by the children.

Please do encourage your children to create pictures showing excellent road safety, with their neatest colouring in and using bright, bold colours (ie felt tips). Drawings might be something along the lines of a child holding a grown up's hand when crossing the road, a warning to cars to slow down, etc.

Please send competition entries into school by Monday 3rd July

Despite the great progress being made, this week the following vehicles were parked illegally on double yellow lines on Silver Hill or unsafely around the Memorial Hall and School Lane.

Sports Week:

The children and staff are looking forward to celebrating Schools Sports Week next week. The children will bring their PE kits home today so that they can come into school wearing it on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Thursday Y1 and Y2 can come to school wearing their own sports clothes

They will need a filled, water bottle and hat every day with their name on and plenty of suncream (applied at home).

Monday is our Sports Day and all children will be having a packed lunch on the Shakman Field afterwards. You are welcome to stay for lunch with your child. If you need to leave please let the midday supervisors know and they will look after your child.

Parent Volunteers: We are looking for several parent volunteers in the next couple of weeks to come and assist with a home reading book audit. Before the end of term we are going to place an order for new home readers so that the children have a fully restocked and tidy selection of books to come back to with some new and exciting book additions too. In order to do this we need to remove tatty and old copies of books and then review where there are more significant gaps. This is what we would love a few parents to come in to help with. We can be flexible with times and if you can only spare half an hour it will all add up so we would be grateful for any time you can offer before Friday 14thJuly.

Many thanks, Mrs J. Jones, (Literacy coordinator)
