Thank you again for all your hard work supporting your children’s learning this week. Please remember to do what you can rather than put yourself under undue pressure. If you try to prioritise key skills, such as: reading writing and maths, make sure that you balance this with exercise, getting outside and enjoying this time together, you will have done a great job.
Thank you for bearing with us as we work through the teething problems and try to make the learning at home information as helpful as possible. I would like to thank the staff for their hard work as they, like you, are coping with working from home and the pressures of family life in these uncertain times. They are an amazing team who with true professionalism are approaching this situation with a determination to do the best for the children and the families at home.
I hope you enjoyed receiving the letters from support staff, the pet quizzes and the letter from Trixie today. It is always good to spread some cheer around.
Attached to today’s message are some resources (created by MIND the mental health charity) for you to use for yourselves and with your families as the Easter break is the time for us all to recharge, rest and make sure we are ready for whatever happens next in this mixed up time we are living in. Take a look and try some of the ideas out!
Some parents have been asking about when we will reopen. I am sorry but I do not know any more than you. We are hearing the news at the same time as you are. Rest assured that as soon as we have any news about this we will be in touch.
I met (virtually) with the SLT today. Below are the key messages that we would like to share.
The office teams request that when you email in please let them know the name of your child and class they are in so that the communication can be forwarded to the correct teacher- thank you.
Free School Meals
The voucher scheme for people eligible for free school meals is up and running. If you and anyone you know is struggling financially, please let us know. We need to be looking out for each other and you may hear things that we don’t. If your circumstances have changed and you think that you may be eligible for free school meals the application form is on the website here
STORY TELLING SESSIONS
Over the holiday period we will be sharing some links to story telling sessions with mystery readers. Look out for the emails with the links.
Please remember to send your messages and photos in over the holidays so we can build a blog and share your news. NO PHOTOS OF PEOPLE PLEASE
LEARNING AT HOME
Staff will change how the Reading Eggs and My Maths work is set so that specific tasks are accessible across the week rather than on specific days so that parents can plan their week and move pieces of learning around the week as required.
Maths- parents have asked for examples of maths strategies so that they are sure their children are using the correct methods. A copy of the maths progression for calculation is available on the school website in the maths corner here please use this to check the learning the children are currently being asked to do.
Junior School Parents- Please ensure that your child completes the lesson part of the MyMaths work before they attempt the tasks. The lesson contains lots of examples and will support your child with understanding the tasks set.
If you have any questions or queries please do email the school offices.
Thank you for all that you do and please take good care.
