With the nice weather, I have been leaving my exercise bike behind and exploring lots of newly discovered footpaths and walking routes. My children take it in turns to lead me on new circuits around Chalfont St Giles and beyond. I have been in the village for over 23 years, but it shows there is still a lot for me still to discover, I hope you've had some lovely walks with your family too.
I have been trying to help Mr Holmes and Miss Balaam where I can, with information, blogging and such like. I've also been doing some learning at home too to keep me up to speed for school, it was all online and I really enjoyed it.
My children too have had some challenges, depending on which new recipe I've been trying out on them! Some have been good, some not so good but they don't hold back on giving me their opinion, so I'm very clear which ones not to try again! I think maybe they should try cooking for me a bit more instead. Do you do any cooking at home or help prepare meals?
I'm still pottering about in the garden and as this is the start of the growing season my plants are really coming along, but unfortunately so are the weeds, it keeps me occupied though. I've also expanded into growing tomatoes and am trying out a courgette too. I will keep you posted as to my progress. I'm so lucky to have a garden and am sat out in it now writing this message to you. I've found, with this extra time at home, that I'm really noticing the changes in it all the more.
Well, I'd better go now. I hope you all have fun. Keep being helpful at home, stay on top of the reading and be kind.
Love Mrs Jackson
Hello Year Four,
I hope you are all well. I am really missing all of your cheeky smiles and sunny faces.
Have you been keeping yourselves busy? I’ve been doing some decorating, and I jet washed my patio ready for the table and chairs I treated myself to - now we don’t have to eat on our laps when the sun is shining!! My son & I spent a whole day putting it all together; there were so many little pieces .
The lovely weather has also meant that I’ve been able to get out on my bicycle - have you noticed how hilly it is where we live ⛰ ? I don’t get very far but it’s been great fun.
I’m still working my way through old jigsaws (my children make fun of me but I often find them sitting there popping a couple of pieces in).
I have been doing lots of quizzes online with friends and I’ve read quite a few books. What has been your favourite thing to read since I last saw you? This has been my favourite.
It has been lovely to see a few of you out walking and cycling and I really hope it’s not too long until I get to see the rest of you.
Stay safe everyone.
Much love and big hugs
Hello Year 4
How are you all? It feels like such a long time since we were all together but it has been lovely to see a few of you when I've been out in the village.
I hope you and your families are all well and you are getting on ok with home learning, as well as finding time to have fun and enjoy the lovely weather.
The McAuley Home School is still in full swing and as well as trying to help my children, I have been learning Italian. I am still learning the basics but I am really enjoying it and am hopeful that I will soon be able to order a bowl of pasta or ask for directions in Italian.
I am, however, sad to report that there has been little progress with my ukulele playing - the report from my teacher (my son) said, "Must try harder!". So I am going to practise and hopefully I will have more positive news next time.
My favourite new hobby is hairdressing - have any of your parents had a go at cutting your hair? I have been quite pleased with the results so far (my children are not quite so sure!!)
We have also been spending time staying in touch with family and friends. I am so grateful for the technology that allows us to see our family in Scotland. My mum hasn't quite mastered the technology yet so all we see is half her face, the top of her head or the ceiling - it is very funny. I hope you are all enjoying chatting and staying in touch with your friends and family.
Year 4, I am really missing being with you all at school and I know you will be missing school too but I hope you are enjoying this time with your families and are finding new and creative ways of learning and having fun. I look forward to seeing you all again when we can safely return to school.
In the meantime, take care, stay safe and have fun.
Ciao ragazzi e ragazze (a little bit of Italian for you!)
Hello Boys & Girls !
I hope you are all well and looking after yourselves!
I really miss seeing your smiley faces at school - I'm smiling now when I think about you all
I've been trying to do things that I wouldn't normally have time to do, like baking bread, making cakes, muffins and biscuits! Have you been baking too? What's the tastiest thing you've made? Mine was a lemon sponge - it didn't last long - I only managed to get one slice!
My dog is getting very, very fluffy and a bit smelly - I did give her a bit of a bath and a good brush but she really needs to go to the dog groomer.
I've been busy cleaning all the windows in my house - there are a lot! Perhaps you can help me work out how long it will take? Downstairs I have 14 windows with 10 panes of glass each, 3 windows with 15 panes of glass and 8 windows with 8 panes of glass. It takes me 1 minute to clean each pane. How long will it take me to clean all of these windows?
I'm really looking forward to the summer and hopefully seeing you all in school again.
Lots of Love
