I hope you are all keeping well and managing to stay warm. I must admit to liking the winter, I like to cosy down and I love winter food. I've made so much soup in the last few weeks that my old blender has stopped working. I'm now making soup with chopped up veggies so it doesn't need blending.
Soup is a great way to eat a good assortment of vegetables and also uses up all the leftovers in your fridge. My guinea pigs Beryl and Ivy turn their noses up at unfresh vegetables, so quite often they get to eat the new stuff whilst we eat the old veg in soup!
I've enjoyed bird watching this week, in my garden I've seen
I've seen a greater spotted woodpecker in a tree in the Dell at the park. I heard him tap, tap, tapping on a dead tree and eventually saw him as he flew off.
I saw a gorgeous wagtail on the pavement outside the White Hart.
On my dog walks in Hodgemoor I've seen red kites flying and today I was really excited to see 2 green woodpeckers. They were on the field next to the bridle path near the entrance to the woods. I haven't seen them for ages. I think they were pecking at insects in the grass.
I didn't manage to take any photos as I had my dogs with me but I did draw some of them when I got home.
Yesterday a beautiful fox visited our garden. She looked very healthy and well fed.
I've seen a few of you looking at my window and waved, I hope you saw me.
Much love to you all. Stay safe.
