Sponsored Walk 2017

Dear Parents

The school’s annual Sponsored Walk is going to take place on Friday 5th May 2017.

At the Nursery the children will go for a walk in the morning in the school field looking for signs of seasonal change.

The Infant School children will go for a walk in the afternoon around the Village looking for signs of seasonal change and practicing their road safety skills.

At the Junior School the children will be walking around the inner perimeter of the school trying to clock up as many circuits as they are able in the time available during the afternoon.  A tally sheet will be sent home following the Sponsored Walk to give the number of laps of the school that your child has completed.

Reception and Year 1-6 children are welcome to walk in fancy dress. They will need to bring this in to school in a bag and they can change after lunchtime before they start their walk.  Please ensure they are suitably dressed for the weather whilst walking and have good walking shoes with socks. The event is a highlight of the year and aside from funds provided by the PTA it is the school’s main fundraising activity. Last year we raised over £4000 across both sites.  Your support for the sponsored walk is crucial to making the event a success so please do all that you can to support your child’s fund raising efforts.

This year each class will have a fundraising page attached to a JustGiving Campaign.

Please feel free to sponsor your child by donating to these pages via the links provided. We also request that you share this link and ask family, friends, members of the local community to contribute to our campaign. Please ensure that you complete the gift aid section when making your donations as this makes a huge difference to our final total.

The links are also available on a special Sponsored Walk page on the school website – look on the News and Events menu.

Please also check whether you receive corporate matching through work as we are a registered charity. We have confirmation that we will receive £500 of corporate matching from JustGiving. All donations will be gratefully received small or large. Please also note if any parent would like to fundraise for this campaign themselves they are very welcome to set up a fundraising page.

As Buckinghamshire Schools are among the worst funded in the country in terms of per pupil funding we need your help. This year our schools are in need of funds to support us with purchasing resources to support our enriched curriculum, new interactive white boards in some parts of the school and books to further support our planning and delivery of the Power of Reading.  Read more about this on our campaign page

The campaign page is: https://www.justgiving.com/campaigns/charity/csg-infant-school/walk

We aim to collect the money in by Friday 19th May so that a grand total can be communicated to everyone before the end of term.

If you are not able to access the JustGiving page for any reason please send in your sponsor money to either school office in a sealed envelope labelled Sponsored Walk and with your child’s name and class clearly marked. Cash only please.

We rely upon parent volunteers to marshal the walk on the day. If you are willing and able to help please indicate on the return slip below. At the Junior School the PTA will also be helping by providing drinks for the children during the afternoon, though all children are welcome to bring their own water bottles for the walk as well. I also recommend that children wear well-fitting trainers or sensible shoes, with socks, and have sun cream applied before they come to school. If the weather is very hot then a sun hat may also be necessary.

Yours sincerely
