We are very pleased and proud to be able to inform you that our school has been awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark Silver award. This follows a year long process in developing our science provision, led by our science co-ordinators Mrs Mannion and Mr Holmes.
Jane Turner, PSQM National Director said: “Gaining a Primary Science Quality Award is a significant achievement for a school. The profile and quality of science teaching and learning in each awarded school is very high. Children are engaging with great science both in and outside the classroom, developing positive attitudes towards science as well as secure science understanding and skills. Science subject leaders, their colleagues, head teachers, children, parents and governors should be very proud.”
The co-ordinators were required to put together a lengthy submission to demonstrate the effectiveness of the work carried out in school with written reflections and evidence to support these. The reviewer said in his summation:
‘This is an extremely strong application and I have no reservations at all in recommending it for a Silver Award. There has clearly been a lot of highly effective work carried out in developing the quality of provision and also in developing this submission. ‘
Please look out for more information about this in our next school newsletter.
