Junior - Weekly Email

Dear All

Youth Sports Trust - We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Bronze Quality Mark for PE and have begun working towards the silver badge which we aim to achieve within the next year.  More details are available on the Awards page of the school website here.

Pick up - Ad hoc arrangements - Thank you for all of your patient support with our new pick up arrangements If your child is always collected from school and you make an ad hoc change of arrangements for your child to go home with a friend on a particular day please can you inform the School Office via email by 11am on the day or by talking to the class teacher at the beginning of the day. This is to ensure that the information received by the office can be passed on to class teachers in the afternoon register. It is really helpful if  you can give your child's full name and class if emailing in. Thank you.

Parking near to school - Please be considerate of residents when parking at drop off and pick up times. Please do not block pavements or driveways whilst waiting to pick up your children at the end of the day. Please do not block the turning circles on Lagger Close or Parsonage Road. We have had a few near misses recently and ask that you share this parking advice with other family members who may be collecting or dropping off during the school day. If you do have a near miss on the pedestrian crossing please report this to Bucks CC. Either call them on: 01296 382416 (9am-5.30pm Mon-Thurs 9am-5pm Friday) or use the “contact us” email on their website - link here.

Pick up from clubs - a reminder that all school side gates are open until 17:00 on club nights. Please do not park in the staff car park at pick up time. Thank you.

Younger children on site - whilst it is lovely to see younger siblings on site at the beginning and end of day please can we ask that they follow the same rules as for junior school children - they should not be riding scooters or bikes on school premises nor should they be playing on the tyres of trim trails.

School meal survey - St Joseph's Hub kitchen have put together a school meal survey to obtain some feedback on how they are doing and get ideas for their next next menu. The survey will be active until the 16th February - https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/X69Q9G7

Head lice awareness - There are always a few cases of head lice in school. Please can you regularly check your child's hair for signs of lice and treat accordingly.

Year 3 - Shortenills trip is on Tuesday 27th February and we are asking for a voluntary contribution from parents of £9.00 per child.  This is a voluntary contribution but if we do not receive sufficient funds to cover costs then the trip will not be able to go ahead.  Please can payment be made via ParentPay, or sent into school as cash or cheque in an envelope marked Year 3 Shortenills. Payment and consent forms are both due in by Wednesday 7th February. Paper copies of the consent form are on the school website here or you can fill in an online version of the consent form using this Google Forms link https://goo.gl/forms/SrCHvL3OtEQrh4US2 .

Year 4 - The Saxon Workshop is planned for Thursday 8th March - thank you to those of you who have made voluntary contributions towards the cost of this workshop. If you have not yet done so please can you send in a voluntary contribution of £7.00 to cover the cost of this day. Please can payment be made via ParentPay or sent into school in a named envelope with Saxon Day - Year 4 written on it. Cheques to be made payable to Chalfont St Giles Junior School please. There is no obligation upon any parent to contribute in this way; it is entirely voluntary. All children will be able to take part in the visit regardless of whether parent(s) have been able to make a contribution. However, if we do not receive a sufficient sum in voluntary contributions the visit will have to be cancelled since we could not cover the cost from the school funds. If payments can be made by Monday 5th February 2018, we can then review if the day can proceed.

Year 5 - Year 5 Hastings trip deposits should now all have been paid. If you have not yet paid this £40 please can you do so. Thank you.

Year 6 - EHIC cards that were requested to be returned for family holidays prior to the Year 6 France trip are being sent home with children today {note - will be sent home Monday 5th Feb} so please look out for them in bags. If you have not yet sent in your passport paperwork for France please can they be sent in as soon as possible. Many thanks.
